We take the risks of COVID-19 very seriously and understand the rippling effects of infection to those that are most vulnerable in our community. Please see our plan outlined below for safety, fun and fitness through these trying times.
 
  1. The race is now fully slated to be a virtual run and walk only.
  2. We will be offering all of the gear and medals for pick up (or shipment) before the race and we will be offering deferrals for the next year as well for use at ANY of our races including next year’s Hop Hop.
  3. We have a slew of other fun bonuses outlined below to make this both fun and easier for everyone.

VIRTUAL OPTION DETAILS
  • Run or walk the distance you signed up for or choose a different distance just to stay active and be active!
  • Run or walk the distance on April 11th. Exceptions can be made if you can’t do it on that day, of course!
  • Please dress up, wear your shirts, put on your medals (we suggest doing that part after…your dentist will thank us!).
  • Take photos and/or videos and post on our Facebook page here or simply email them to info@foottraffic.us.
  • We will pick over 50 random virtual posts or emails to win all sorts of prizes from our vendors and sponsors.
  • BIB/SHIRT PICK UP: We will be starting our bib pick up a week before the race at our Northeast location and can transfer your packet to wherever you choose in advance with enough notice. We can also mail you a packet upon request but are trying to limit that to ensure that everyone is able to get their packets on time given that all the pre-ordered supplies have already been ordered and will be delivered sometime shortly before that week begins.
  • All pre-registered participants will receive a partial race credit of $50 for the half marathon, $35 for the 10K, and $20 for the 5K to ANY Foot Traffic race in 2020 (or next year’s Hop Hop). We will offer you a unique voucher code upon request for your chosen race within the next year. Please send them to info@foottraffic.us
  • All pre-registered participants will STILL get their shirts, medals, champagne flutes, custom bibs (to wear on your virtual run, of course!) and goodies.
  • All pre-registered participants that registered in the first 100 will still receive their Honey Bunny lip balm from Five Rivers Farm!

Hop Hop and AWAY!

The Hop Hop Half, 10K & 5K is Portland’s ONLY Easter weekend race!  Mimosas, brunch, huge cute medals, awesome course, Easter egg painting, dancing and so much more! This fun, Easter-themed event features a FLAT and super scenic courses that take participants all along the Columbia River on the Marine Drive bike path. Amazing views of Mt. Hood, the Columbia River to your north, the canal, golf courses, and lots of wildlife!

START/FINISH AT THE KLIEVER ARMORY

The Hop Hop Half, 10K, & 5K will hold it’s pre and post-event festivities INSIDE the Kliever Armory on NE 33rd Ave. Race parking and start/finish locations remain the same at the neighboring Port of Portland lots, but we now have a fantastic indoor finish venue in the armory! COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

All three races will be chip timed and the all three race will be a USATF certified courses! . All courses are VERY flat and fast and are equally great for someone interested in setting a PR or for for beginners looking to complete their first half! The 5K and 10K also head onto the Marine Drive bike path before returning to the start/finish area! TIME LIMITS: The races are all open to walkers and runners, but the half marathon has a time limit of 4 hours for safety and security with police and street closures. We will keep the finish line open for as long as necessary, but usually the finish party starts to wrap up and consolidate around 11:30 given the limited amount of participants finishing after that point. However, our staff will ALWAYS have medals, mimosas, food, beer, and lots of cheers, awaiting you regardless of your finish time!

Half Marathon

This extremely flat course starts on NE 33rd Ave. and takes participants south on 33rd for one mile before heading back North towards Marine Drive. Participants are then treated to over 10 miles of flat, smooth bike path with gorgeous views of Mt. Hood and the mighty Columbia River. The course follows an out and back format on the Marine Drive Bike path, with the turnaround right at the I-205 bridge. Participants then finish the course by reentering NE 33rd Ave. and finishing where they started. USATF CERTIFICATION NUMBER: OR13003LB

10K

The 10K course takes participants out and back past Riverside Country Club and then returns past the start/finish area for about 1.5 miles along the Marine Drive bike path before returning to the start/finish area. The 10k is also chip timed and is professionally and accurately measured to ensure an excellent race experience.

5K

The 5K course takes participants out and back north on 33rd and up onto the Marine Drive bike before finishing at the same location as the half marathon in front of the Kliever Armory. The 5K is also chip timed and is professionally and accurately measured to ensure an excellent race experience.

USATF Certified and Chip-timed Half

The Half Marathon course is always certified and professionally chip timed! 5K and 10K courses will be professionally chip-timed and ACCURATELY measured (always) but not a USATF certified course.

AID STATIONS

There will be 5 total aid stations along the half marathon course serving electrolyte and gels at each! There will also be restrooms at each stop.

Nuun will be the electrolyte choice on course and Clif Shots will be our gels on course. Pick up either one at any Foot Traffic location to test them out before the event!

All races will also feature at least one PEEPS AID STATION!

FOOT TRAFFIC UNIVERSITY

Foot Traffic University is Portland’s original & most-trusted training program focusing on the 10K or Half Marathon distances. GREAT for those new to the sport or those that are interested in continuing their training with hundreds of others of all paces and experience levels. Pace mentors for runners AND walkers with groups ranging from 8 min. miles to over 20 min. miles! Meets every Saturday at 8am at a variety of Portland-Metro locations.

  • Where: Meets at various locations and various parks throughout the Portland Metro area including Lake Oswego, Downtown Portland, Northeast Portland, Vancouver, and more!
  • When: Most Saturdays at 8am. Locations and schedule will be emailed to registered participants.  Session One’s first meeting is on January 28th at the NE Foot Traffic (click here for directions) at 8am. Please be prepared for a very LIGHT jog or walk that morning

FOOT TRAFFIC WOMEN’S ACADEMY

The BEST and LARGEST all-women’s training program in Portland for ALL abilities of runners and walkers! Whether you are a woman just trying to start to get active again or you are looking to improve upon your existing fitness, the Foot Traffic Women’s Academy is for YOU!

Women of all abilities and ages will be represented in the program and joined by “pace supporters” and coaches for all paces. The emphasis is on lifestyle and holistic health rather than performance and speed.  The program partners with hospitals, local businesses, fitness professionals, nutritionists and physical therapists to help members navigate the world of fitness. In addition, the program is designed to also help cancer survivors that may need to bond with other survivors while training for an event or just to start or maintain a healthy lifestyle.

With an overall “wellness” focus, this program goes beyond simply training for a particular event and is a great opportunity to meet with like-minded women to start or maintain a healthy lifestyle. The weekly weekend meetings include tips and discussions from nutritionists, trainers, physical therapists, doctors and representatives in the footwear, apparel, and accessory industry.

The Academy serves all levels and abilities starting at age 17 and up to seniors and will have motivating supporters of all ages and experience backgrounds including members of local track and cross country programs.

Membership includes a free super-cute women’s specific shirt, professional coaching both for runners and walkers, tons of free gear and exclusive discounts on related gear, organized weekly meetings, as well as weekly schedules delivered via email for each pace group’s specific workout to do on your own. What really separates this program from any other is the unparalleled camaraderie of an all-women’s environment discussing topics and issues of the utmost importance to women of all ages.

Race venue is at the Kliever Armory. Parking is in the lots SURROUNDING the armory and not the armory itself. We have provided multiple links from all sorts of directions around Portland. BAG CHECK

Yes, there is an Easter Bunny! And YES, there IS a bag check! Use the bag check tag on your bib and zip or tape it to your own bag to save on waste or simply put your bib number on your own bag with a big piece of tape and you can hand it right over! Forgot your bag? No worries, we’ll still have some extra plastic bags for ya. Please, only drop your bag once though so we only have to find it once after the race. 😉

CARPOOLING & PARKING

There are three main lots surrounding the venue and we do an EXCELLENT job getting nearly 2,000 participants and spectators parked and ready for the race within 45 short minutes. BUT…you can help! Please please please plan to carpool and rideshare. When you drop off, please don’t park in front of other cars and “kiss and drop” even for 30 seconds. If 400 cars wait 30 seconds to kiss and drop, we end up with a huge line. Help make race morning smooth and efficient and GREEN!
