About Foot Traffic
Foot Traffic was founded in 2000 at the site of an old video store in NE Portland in the beautiful Alameda district. The neighborhood setting set the stage for our community- based business model that focuses on immersing our employees and our operations directly within the community around us. Since that time, Foot Traffic has opened 4 more locations serving the communities in Downtown Portland, Sellwood, Cedar Mill, and Vancouver. Foot Traffic’s 5 locations amount to one of the largest locally-owned stores in the Northwest.
Foot Traffic’s community-based business model emphasizes: 1.) Access to the sport. 2.) Creating a one-stop hub for all things running and walking and fitness. 3.) Commitment is to the betterment of our fellow runners and walkers and the community they live in.
Foot Traffic is owned by Sean Rivers. Sean has been operating Foot Traffic since 2004 and has been involved with every asset of this small business, including: Lead shoe and apparel buyer, head coach for Foot Traffic University, establishing and coaching the store’s youth clubs, sweeping the floors, building the fixtures, fitting customers for shoes, community outreach…. the list grows every day. He grew up in Sandy, OR, attended the University of Alaska Anchorage, and moved back to Portland shortly after. He operates a small alpaca farm just outside of Portland with his wife and three daughters and spends his “free time” cleaning chicken coops, selling organic pasture raised chicken eggs, and getting his goats unstuck from the fence about three times a week.
