ABOUT YOUTH TRACK

The Foot Traffic Youth Track & Run Program is brought to you in part by Foot Traffic and Portland Parks and Recreation and other sponsors and partners.  It is open to all students, grade 2-8. The focus is on introductory workout and introductory track skills for all athletes, with workouts tailored to the athletic ability of the different age groups. A BIG emphasis on FUN and EDUCATION! Our program is designed primarily as an introduction to the sport rather than intense, daily workouts. COVID SAFETY

  • The most effective method for reducing Covid transmission is keeping all of our programs outside with plenty of space for distancing. Data continues to show that transmission is significantly lessened in open-air environments when individuals are allowed to maintain their distance.
  • We will follow local and federal health authority guidelines regarding masking outside and when it’s not possible to maintain adequate distance. Athletes will be required to arrive in masks, but when running, they will be allowed to pull their masks down if they can maintain distance from each other. Coaches will be vaccinated and masks during check in but will need to keep their masks off for much of the practice at to safely communicate from a distance given they will be outside organizing large groups.
  • We emphasize social distancing strategies during check in and between activities and remind everyone about giving adequate space to fellow students.
  • We ask that all parents become our PARTNERS in communication to athletes BEFORE and AFTER they are at practice in order to drive home the social distancing requirements.
  • We will have hand sanitizer on hand at all times
  • We will ask all campers and parents to be forthright about before every practice about whether they are experiencing any symptoms and stay home if they are.
