ABOUT YOUTH TRACK

The Foot Traffic Youth Track & Run Program is brought to you in part by Foot Traffic and Portland Parks and Recreation and other sponsors and partners.  It is open to all students, grade 2-8. The focus is on introductory workout and introductory track skills for all athletes, with workouts tailored to the athletic ability of the different age groups. A BIG emphasis on FUN and EDUCATION! Our program is designed primarily as an introduction to the sport rather than intense, daily workouts. Coaches are directed to provide guidance on workout principles in a relaxed and fun environment.

 

PROGRAM OFFERINGS FOR 2024:

  • 2024 LOCATIONS/PROGRAMS: Each program is 5 weeks.
    • NORTHEAST PDX, EARLY & LATE SPRING
    • SOUTHEAST PDX, EARLY & LATE SPRING
    • CEDAR MILL, EARLY & LATE SPRING
  • 5 day SPRING BREAK program!
    • Grant Park: March 25th-29th
    • 3 hours each day, Moday-Friday.
    • Games, running, skills, and snack time.
  • Practices/camps include introductions to:
    • Dynamic warm-up, plyometrics and other warm up basics.
    • Distance/endurance workouts.
    • Sprints workouts and practice with starts.
    • Games and workout fundamentals.
    • Beginner hurdles
    • Beginning with shot put
    • Beginning turbo javelin
    • Jumping fundamentals
