* Please check back in before race day and look for pre-race emails. It is not likely, but extenuating circumstances can occur that necessitates slight changes to the race day start schedule. Double checking a few days before the race is always a good idea!

DETAILS FOR WAVE STARTS:

  • Stay out of the START ZONE until it’s your time to go! This will help keep the race starts flowing smoothly.
  • Please look for your wave zone FLAG WHEN YOU ARRIVE  and listen for your turn to enter the START ZONE. It will follow the schedule above to the minute to keep everyone heading out safely and quickly.
  • Not sure if you are in one zone or another? It’s OK! Just pick a zone and stick with it. The goal is to reduce congestion and prevent large bubbles on the course.

BIB PICK-UP DATES:

NOTE: These dates are tentative and could be updated 3 weeks out from the race day.

It is HIGHLY recommended that you pick up your packet on one of these four days to ease congestion race morning.

Sunday, Dec. 5th Foot Traffic West, 13306 NW Cornell Rd., 11am-4:45pm

Thursday, Dec. 9th Foot Traffic Vancouver, 305 SE Chkalov Dr., 10:30am-6:30pm

Friday, Dec. 10th Foot Traffic SOUTHEAST, 1260 SE Lambert St., 10:30am-6:30pm

Saturday, Dec. 11th Foot Traffic Northeast, 4020 NE Fremont St., 10am-4pm

COMMUTE OPTIONS AND DESCRIPTIONS:

IMPORTANT! The Going St. overpass is still under construction and there is a lane restriction arriving and departing the island. This results in more congestion than typical for this race.

Please plan to arrive 45 minutes to an HOUR early to make sure you don’t get caught in traffic arriving before the race start. Remember, there are thousands of others starting the race when you do, so if you try to arrive 15 minutes before your race, you will be stuck in traffic (think trying to park in the garage at a Blazers game 10-15 minutes before a game). C

CARPOOL:  This is the number one thing you can do to make it a smoother morning. If you are meeting friends, think about meeting in North Portland somewhere and jumping in one car before driving down to Swan Island!
DROP OFF LANE: Only for vehicles leaving the venue (no dropping & then parking). Max 1 min. drop of time only.
LIFT/UBER/RIDESHARE: Please have them follow YOUR and our parking staff instructions when they arrive. Their map will have them drive directly INTO the closest section of the venue, which is where the race starts. Drop off away from the main venue please!
REGULAR PARKING: Follow signs/staff
BIKE PARKING: In front of Daimler
BUS STOP: Bus #72 takes you right in FRONT of the venue!
MAX LINE: Looking for any easy down hill warm up? Drop off at the Yellow line Interstate/Prescott stop and jog under 1 miles downhill to the venue!

HOLIDAY FAQS:

  • What happens if COVID-19 situations necessitate cancellation? The race will adhere to any public health authority requirements if they cover outside group event restrictions. In the case of cancellation, all registrants will automatically be switched to a virtual race platform and receive all the swag that will already be ordered for you. For those not wanting to do the virtual race, you can receive a voucher for 75% of your registration for the following year and also still receive your swag (again, the swag is already ordered ahead of time, so that will not be able to be cancelled). There will be NO REFUNDS, no exceptions. By registering, you agree to adhere to this rule and have signed a waiver that reflects this rule. Thank you for understanding and we hope you LOVE the race experience and swag, regardless of the rules put forth by local health authorities.
  • Is there a bag check? Yes, there is a bag check. We recommend you have your own bag ready in advance and just write your bib number on the outside of it in advance (duct tape or a tag on the handle will work well).
  • Are masks required? Masks will be required at the start/finish venue but can be removed when you are on the course or if you are outside and can maintain adequate distance from others as outlined by state and local agencies and the Oregon Health Authority.
  • Where do I park? There are multiple lots all around the Daimler campus we will direct you to! In addition, Swan Island is centrally located and has light rail within about a mile and bus lines on Greeley Avenue. The area is VERY bike friendly as well. Please plan to carpool and give yourself AT LEAST 30 minutes before the race to get parked and get ready for the race.
  • How do the staggered starts work? We have limited the entries this year but we will also stagger our starts based on pace groups by just a few minutes to ease any congestion at the very beginning. The exact schedule will be announced as soon as we are closer to the race week but the overall start time frame will be over the course of about 45 minutes so everyone will be on the course around the same time, but just spread out a bit more.
  • Are spectator allowed? Yes, we strongly believe that the support of our friends and family are important for our mental and physical well being. But we absolutely only want one vehicle per household or group, if possible. Parking is limited. In addition, we ask that spectators provide plenty of space in the starting area for adequate spacing.
  • Are dogs allowed? No, for insurance purposes and for congestion and safety, they are not allowed.
  • Are there water stations? Yes! We will have at least 6 water stations on the course for the half marathon. We will have water, electrolytes (nuun), and gels at each station.
  • How does the virtual race work? It’s really simple! 1.) Register for the virtual race. 2.) Race on your own anytime and anywhere between December 12th – 25th.  3.) You will receive a text and email prompt that you can submit your finish time to and any photos if you want to add them! 4.) You will be able to pick up your swag at any bib pick up location OR you can choose to have it shipped to you using our shipping link.
  • How are we doing the packet distribution? We are offering a bib pick up over the course of multiple days before the race (dates to be announced soon).
  • Can I have my virtual items shipped? YES, you can! You must request and pay for this through our shipping link within the registration (just click on “register” and you’ll see a separate ticket there).
  • Can I have my items shipped if I’m doing the in person race? Unfortunately, no. Items won’t be available early enough to get them to you on time.
  • I didn’t get my swag from last year. Do you still have it? Maybe! You can check with us and we can see what’s available. Eventually we will donate them, but for now, we do have a few more left. Email or call a store and we will arrange pick up.
